Atari Dumps Oddworld Inhabitants

A recent filing by Atari shows that the company has severed its ties to Oddworld Inhabitants, publishers of Munch's Oddysee. The filing revealed that Atari handed over its 50 per cent share in Oddworld Inhabitants over to Microsoft in exchange for a bunch of publishing royalties

This action terminated a relationship that started back in 1996, when Atari (then known as Infogrames) took the 50 per cent stake in Oddworld Inhabitants. The stake totaled $7.1 million, but the information has just become known through the recent filing with the American Securities and Exchange Commission.

Microsoft now owns half of Oddworld Habitants, having forked over $1.8 million in various publishing royalties over to Atari. And the Redmond giant recently dropped Oddworld Inhabitants' next project, tentatively called Stranger, from its Xbox release schedule, so we'll have wait and see what the future holds for all things Oddworld.
