Dreamcast on a chip
Japanese company Renesas has announced that it has taken all the core components of the Sega Dreamcast and combined them into a single faster chip, called the SH3707.
The new chip is almost twice as fast as the Dreamcast's 200 Mhz core processor. Further, it has an upgraded video system built into the chip. The SH3707 also has the capability of processing MPEG-1, -2, and -4 video and eight-channel PCM/ADCPM audio.
The company hasn't announced any customers for this system yet, but plan to begin shipping them early next year. Maybe the Dreamcast isn't dead after all.
