The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Here on the United States' East Coast, things are getting especially nippy, and what better way to get pumped for the holiday season that to talk about the some of the season's most anticipated releases:

The Good:

Apparently, a few Meijer stores (can't say I've ever heard of the chain before) have gathered their collective chutzpah, and released Halo 2 well before its street date. According to various guys on the street, the store in question is reported to be at 1703 Haggerty Road in Toledo, Ohio. Rumors also exist stating that another Meijer store (this time somewhere in Michigan) is also being naughty.

I suppose I should go get a plane ticket to Toledo, huh?

The Bad:

This particular tidbit's badness really depends on where you live: Nintendo has revealed that Mario Kart DS will be a launch title for the DS. 'What's so bad about that?' you may ask. The deal is, it's only a launch title for the Japanese and European release; us Americans'll have to wait until next year to get our mitts on it.

See? I knew Japan wouldn't give us the DS first without giving us the shaft.

The Ugly:

Proof positive that Microsoft will stop at nothing to get at our paychecks: they've launched Xbox Live Arcade, a new service that allows Xbox Live subscribers to play rather chintzy minigames. The Live Arcade starter disc is necessary to gain access, and Microsoft is hocking it for 5 bucks on their web site. The question is, why on Earth would you want to pay five dollars for games you could easily find online, especially when you could be playing that copy of Halo 2 you got at Meijer with your buddies?
