Those were the days
K I'm going to date myself here, but I feel I must.
I was in Toys R Us yesterday (what can I say, I'm a big kid at heart) and I noticed that they have an Intellivision with 25 games for about $20. I couldn't believe it.
They also have atari and Activision flavors. The kicker is they are just controllers that you plug into the RCA ports of your TV.
I couldn't believe it - here is a gaming system that I grew up with (the Intellivision) in one small, inexpensive unit.
So I was looking at the titles it comes with - baseball, football, Tower of Doom, Wrestling, Buzz Bombers and more.
I had an instant flashback to sitting in my basement, playing my intellivision. Back "in the day" it was a console about the size of a laptop computer. Brown and gold in color, and the controllers were nothing like the PS2 type you see today.
Of course it took a little imagination to play the games - after all graphics were nothing like they are today, but it was cool!
And there was this game - Night Stalker - that one of the stores used to have a contest with. You could sign up to play against others and the top 2 scorers won gift certificates.
Well it just so happened that my brother and I were also excellent at this game. We both signed up and ended up playing against each other for the top spot (I won and he came in second). We combined our winnings and were able to buy 4 more Intellivision games!
Those were some great times.
So to see the intellivision reborn in a new fashion, kinda makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I was wondering how long it would take to get some of the old favorites back.
