Nintendo DS already putting nails in Sony's Coffin?

Hey all I'm back. And I have a great little story from our friends at portagame. Looks like Nintendo plans to ship an add-on module that provides music and video playback, the company said today. The $48 adaptor will work with any MPEG 4 video and MP3 audio files stored on a DS memory card. Sounds cool. Anyone got any photos of the device? Oh the reasons to own a DS just went up a notch....now to learn how to transfer DIVX to MPEG4

Xbox Next Release Confirmed?

Before I say anything else, it's shamepless plug time: my site, The Geek Factor is back after a month long hiatus (which was totally not caused by me. Honest.) Go check it out if you're bored.

Ahem. Time for news.

According to the guys over at TalkXbox, the trailer of a next-gen console game called 'WarDevil' holds proof that Xbox Next will launch in 2005.

At the end of the trailer (which, by the way, looks quite good save for the seemingly random capitalization of letters), a cryptic 'Coming in 2005' is displayed. Yep, that's it. How anyone could possibly take this as definitive proof is beyond me, but the fact that Nintendo's 'Revolution' and the PS3 are expected to hit shelves in 2006 give credence to the rumor. One should also take into account the fact that TalkXbox labelled WarDevil an Xbox Next launch title, which Microsoft refuses to acknowledge as they have yet to reveal the console's existence.

the Playstation Nation

I found this article on the Forbes website. Rather than re-quote it I thought I'd provide a link. I has some great detail on the PS3 including a multi-core processor capable of processing data as fast or faster than some high end servers!

Check it out here.

Halo 2 Surpasses 28 million hours on Xbox Live

Wow. Can you believe that? Actually you know what? Boooring. If I see one more damn Halo 2 story I am going to vomit all over the wearhouse. At least NTHax0r has finally put up our Christmas lights.

Anyway the article goes on to say "the game has sold more than five million copies worldwide since it went on sale in mid-November"

According to Microsoft, nine out of 10 Xbox Live members have played the game for an average of 91 minutes per session. Which is a new record for Xbox Live.

Nintendo DS Almost sold out?

If you were planning on getting a DS but haven't purhcased one yet, chances are you won't be able to get it before Xmas.

Nintendo reports that it's already sold 1/2 million of the handhelds - about 90% of the total inventory in the US. While the company does expect to sell 1 million units before the end of the year they didn't announce where the other 400,000 (or so) units will be coming from or if they'd be available before christmas.

However, if you are in the market for a handheld, don't despair, Sony's PSP is due out shortly.
