Commenting and Links

We have come to a decision here at CC.
We've decided to remove the "nofollow" attribute from our comment links. For those who may not know, the nofollow attribute was added about a year ago to many popular blog softwares and sites in general as a means to combat comment spam.
What would happen is that a site like ours would recieve dozens, if not hundreds, of comments per day. Most of these comments were from sites trying to build links. This is because links from sites equate to improved rankings in search engines.
Now you're probably wondering why we'd do that? Why risk our site to the benefit of these bad links?
Well let me tell you.
Since we've upgraded our blog software (we use Movable Type) we've found the amount of comment spam has dropped substantially. In fact I may only get one or 2 spam comments every month.
Therefore, in an effort to help out legitimate commenters who want to give their site's a boost, and because we really don't get any comment spam any more, we've decided to remove the nofollow and allow good commenters some benefits for reading and commenting about our posts.
We do want to make one thing clear, however. And that is that we read every single comment. Therefore any comment spam that does make it past our spam filters will get picked up by us and manually removed.
So there you have it in a nutshell. Good comments are good and will be approved with links intact, allowing other sites the benefit of an inbound link while bad comments will be removed.
If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post them here but I have to warn you, if you're not gaming related (that means console gaming, not texas holdem poker) your comment could be removed.
And for those who have posted legitimately in the past, check your backlinks. You may just see the Console Conspiracy in your list.

Keep up the great work on your blog. Best wishes WaltDe
