More Slammin on the PS3

There's an interesting piece in the Inquirer which talks about how the PS3 is "Slow and Broken."

In the article they go on about how poorly the Cell processor performs, as well as how the graphics output is roughly 1/2 that of the 360.

Now, the thing that gets me is that they are quoting numbers and statistics that could be who knows how old? I mean, do they really think Sony could afford to release a 1/2 assed console for at least twice the cost of a 260? I mean, sure Sony execs seem to have their head in the clouds when they say the PS3 isn't expensive enough but I think they have enough business savy to know that you can't sell a broken console as new. It just won't work.

Worse yet, you risk alienating the worst possible group - your own fans.

These are the people that will stand in line at 11 45 PM or 3:12 AM or whatever ungodly hour you decide is right for selling the precious commodity.

Just how long would a Sony or PS3 fan put up with a console which in many respects is worse than it's predecessor? Why would someone stand in line for hours, shell out as much as a month's rent to get their hands on a console that doesn't generate enough horsepower to play even the lamest of games?

No, I doubt Sony would be that stupid. Which is why I think the article on the Inquirer isn't worth your attention.

All it does is manage to stir things up a little more by laying out some claims from "unnamed sources" spoken to on an airplane.

Even if these sources are legit, what's to say their facts are correct? Isn't it also possible that one of both parties involved in the interview imbibed some nerve relaxing spirits before or during the flight?

Don't get me wrong - I'm not accusing anyone of anything. It just seems that these days everyone is jumping on the "Down with the PS3" bandwagon. And for what? To increase readership?

I think for the Inquirer to come out looking a little more legitimate, it needs to get its facts straight and verified. Don't just rely on the rants of one oxygen deprived source.
