More Slammin on the PS3 - Part 2

Seems as if everyone these days wants to knock the PS3 a little.

It was just a few days ago we told you of a report in the Enquirer which talked about a Sony insider saying how the console was "slow and broken."

Now, believe it or not, M$ has got into the mudslinging, calling Sony ot the mat over the Cell processor.

According to Microsoft engineer Matt Lee, who works in Microsoft's Game Technology Group, the Cell processor isn't a gaming processor.

He goes on to say"Some aspects of the SPEs, such as the lack of branch prediction, make them particularly unsuited to running most game code, which contains a lot of branches. They appear to be designed more for serialized streaming math code, more common in video codecs and audio processing,

More suited to video eh? Well who would have thought that?

So what you get for 1/2 months rent is a glorified PS2 that plays Blu-ray movies.

Ah Sony, what have you gotten yourself into? I bet by Christmas I could buy a PS2 and a Blu-Ray player and save a couple hundred bucks. Sure I won't be able to play PS3 games, but by the sounds of it the PS3 won't either ;)

So I guess, if you believe an Xbox engineer, then the PS3 isn't the investment Sony is making it out to be. But then again, even Sony employees are telling us it's not up to par either.

Guess I'll wait for the Wii after all.

That's interesting - wonder why the xbox team is getting into this?
