PS3 versus 360

It seems as if everyone these days is comparing the 360 to the PS3. Even Yahoo! Videogames is getting into this "battle" over who has the best console.
And really, I don't think there is one best console. Each of the 3 top consoles this year offer unique advantages.
Really, these types of comparisons bug me on many levels. Do we really care which console gets more bang for the buck? I mean sure, if one CPU is a 1.2GHz and another is a 2.4GHz then we're going to care. But if one console can render 220,000 polygons while another can do 225,000 is that enough of a difference?
Really what it comes down to, as always, is user preference.
For those that just have to have the latest and greatest, then I'd recommend the PS3. Not only is it a Sony product (which generally indicates higher quality, but also at a higher price) but it will play Blu-Ray discs. So if your family was the first in your town to have a VCR then you will likely be the guy that waits for the PS3.
If gaming is your thing, and online gaming is "it" for you, then you will probably want the 360. Not only that but it's been out for a year already so most of the bugs are worked out of it. Not only that but there's an awful lot of mod testing going on so I'd expect to see a decent hack of the 360 in the coming months allowing you to play burned games.
And finally, if you are like me, and are budget conscious but still interested in gaming you will invest your $250 into the Wii. A much cheaper (cost wise) console than the others but still impressive. Not to mention that Nintendo always manages to throw in a few surprises.
So there you have it, my comparison of the "big 3" consoles out there. And while you may agree or not, that's fine too. Because really what console you end up really will depend on what you want it for. Posers will go for the PS3, gamers will likely chose the 360 while the rest of us will wait for the Wii.
