We didn't copy Nintendo says Sony

Shortly after E3 ended we brought you a story in which an exec from Nintendo accused Sony of copying Nintendo and the wireless controller to come with the Wii.
Well Sony has fired back with both barrels. And they do have a point:
"When we brought the PlayStation to the market in 1994, we introduced real time 3-D graphics for the first time," he noted. "When Nintendo launched its N64 in 1996 it also had 3D graphics, did we say, "Nintendo stole our idea!"? Obviously not. Such innovations become possible because of a combination of technology, cost and manufacture capacities."
Now personally I think if Sony did copy, they wouldn't likely have been able to demo a working version of their own motion sensitive controller at E3. No all they did is keep it quite until then.
Likely they began working on the controller at the same time as Nintendo and just chose to keep that information to themselves. While Nintendo has been sure to throw out little tidbits here and there, Sony has kept pretty quite on what the PS3 will do.

It's funny that the controller's such an old and unsuccessful idea that the original's being totally forgotten... Microsoft's Sidewinder, remember that? The PS3 controller reminds me more of that than the Wii controller.
