Stop the Madness!!! Wait for a Wii!!!

By now I'm sure you've all heard about the lady who died trying to win a Wii.
She drank too much water and wouldn't urinate, in the hopes of winning a Wii and for that she ended up in the morgue. How much do you think her 3 kids want a Wii now?
And of course you've all heard stories of people paying $500, $600 or more for a Wii (and surprisingly there are still PS3's available in stores).
It reminds me of last year this time when no one could get their hands on an Xbox 360. Yet what lessons have we learned?
If you look around now you will see even more 360's on store shelves than PS3's. Why is that? Has demand dies for the 360?
Hardly. People still want the 360, however supply has caught up with demand which means if you want a 360 you don't have to stand in line, or pay a scalper on eBay or even enter some stupid content to win a 360. You just go to your electronics retailer and buy one. Simple as that.
Which leads to the point of this rant. And that is, just wait.
Just wait until Nintendo gets caught up. Why wait in line? Why enter contents where there's little chance of winning and why spend twice as much for the thing now when in March or April they will be as plentiful as GameCube's?
That's what I'm doing - sure I'm phoning around every couple days to see if anyone happens to have any left. And I've been close a couple times, but I'm not going to do anything extraordinary to get my Wii.
I'm not even going to stand outside of my local Toy's R Us store this Saturday morning, even though I know they are getting a shipment of them in.
No, I'll go in when I'm ready, likely well after the store has opened, and inquire then.
You see, I too want a Wii but I'm not willing to go to all these extra efforts simply because I know I'll eventually get one.
You see, it's not like tickets to the hottest show on earth, or some rare gem we are bidding on. It's just a game console. One that will be readily available later this year and plentiful next Christmas.
I hope my message has gotten out to some readers. I really don't want to have to hear about another person seriously injuring themselves or dying just to get their hands on something that their neighbor will get in a few weeks. It's just not worth it.

Totally true. Although I think the Big N is a little guilty of this as well. I mean how long does it take to make a console? The avg car takes like 3 days to get off the asembly line. But a Dell PC probably rolls off every 4 hours...so a console?
You are right there! You can custom order a Dell computer and have it shipped to you within a week or two - maybe the console makers could hire Dell to build their consoles. That way you could get a 360 with a bigger drive AND the skin you want - heck they could even preload some games ;)
