PS3 supply to meet demand by May, or will it?

Sony Computer Entertainment America chief Jack Tretton is being quoted as saying: "April or May is when we feel like we're going to catch up to demand and have product fully in stock across North America and stay there."
Now some would argue that in fact Sony won't be producing more PS3s by May. The demand is in fact dropping.
I don't know if I agree with that. Sure demand may be stagnant for the PS3. After all both the Wii and the 360 are much less expensive. And of course the 360 has many more playable game titles than both the Wii and PS3.
But is that grounds for making such statements? I don't think so.
I'm one of the ones who is (apparently) lucky enough to own a Wii. Do I like the console? heck ya! it's a blast to play. And game quality isn't that bad.
But that's because it's hooked up to a regular TV - no HD in my house yet.
Would I trade my Wii for a PS3? Probably. And not because the PS3 costs more. But because I think the PS3 has a much brighter future.
You see, the fact that the PS3 came out as a HD console says a lot. HD is the format people are moving to. In fact, by 2008 or so I doubt you will be able to find a non-HD TV for sale.
I know my next purchase will likely be a plasma or LCD tv - maybe even a couple over the next year or so.
But aside from the output capabilities of the PS3 it has a lot more going for it as well.
Now I'm not going to bore you with all the specs, suffice as to say that if you were a true gamer and wanted a fully featured console you wouldn't buy a Wii. You get a PS3 or Xbox 360.
Of course, time will tell, but from what I'm seeing now - the Wii is for kids. If you've got a teen or older then you want a more powerful console that has more than Mario and Mii's on it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not slamming the Wii - I do have a blast when I play it (it's even more fun when you have some beer at hand :) ) but it's not a true gamers console.
So before you write off the PS3 as a failure just wait. Give it until October or November of this year. I think by then you'll see a massive change in the perception of the PS3. Because by then I'd expect that supply issues will be worked out and there will be a bunch more good quality games out there.
