PS3 Firmware 1.60 to be Released Today!

If you are a PS3 owner then today's the day you've been waiting for. The long lamented about 1.60 firmware update.
And if you are in Europe and wanting a PS3 then today is also the day when you could play a few PS2 games on your PS3. That is, if you had one yet.
That's because European PS3s go on sale Tomorrow. But at least when you get it you can do the update to 1.6 so that you can play a selection of PS2 games.
Rumor is that the Euro PS3 is similar to the new PS3s coming to the US - the ones that don't have the PS2 hardware built in.
So what exactly is updated with 1.60?
Details of the firmware update include:
- Folding @Home: Now you can participate in the worldwide distributed computing protein folding experiments from Standford University, in hopes to further understand human genetics. You can access the Folding @Home application under Network on the XMB
- Internet Browser Pinpoint Zoom and Resolution Settings: You can now choose to zoom into a portion of a website if you have a huge display and can’t read things, or you can set the browser resolution to a different size so everything can be viewed easier
- Full size on-screen keyboard: Makes it easier to type messages and web addresses with the controller
- Remote Play via Wireless Access Point: People with a 20GB PS3 can now utilize the Remote Play feature with a PSP by using any wireless access point.
- Background Downloading from the PlayStation Store: Being able to download stuff in the background will mean that you no longer do you have to sit and wait at the download screen forever. No official word yet if you can queue downloads, or if you can load games from disc while downloading.
And for the European readers, here is a list of PS1 and PS2 games you will be able to play.
