PS3 News Wrapup

As I said in my previous post I am surprised at how quickly time has gone by since my previous posts.

So I thought I'd do some catchup roundup posts. And this one is all about the PS3.

It's actually been a busy could weeks for Sony. Since the GDC there seems to be renewed interest in the fledgling console.

This may be why Next-gen aptly titled this article "Sony Awakens" because in reality that is what appears to have happened.

It appears that the company demoed some new features which are sure to put more spark back into Sony's lower-than-expected console sales.

The big news seems to be the introduction of Playstation Home, coming in October, which looks remarkably like "The Sims."

This PDF file has more details.

But the news of Home isn't all good. There are initial reports that Sony will actually be monitoring and filtering Home to ensure that we all stay "sociable." While private spaces will be exempt from the monitoring, Sony will be actively watching what happens in public spaces.

So this news, of course, spawned a bunch of talk about why one should get a PS3. In fact, reghardware has put together a list of tean reasons why you should buy a PS3.

So if you have now decided it's time to get a PS3 you'd better hurry. That's because it looks like a PS2-less PS3 may be hitting the store shelves soon. It could even mean that a PS2-less PS3 could be the ONLY PS3 you will be able to get in the future. So you'd better get a PS3 with PS2 capabilities soon, to take advantage of all those cool PS2 games out there.
