WTF!! Video Games Caused VA Shootings!!!

I wasn't going to post so soon, but I saw a couple stories today that made my blood boil.
This story and this story report that 2 fairly well known and respected people (at least in some people's eyes) say video games are to blame for this and other shootings in recent history.
Now, I'm not going to go into name calling, but to blame the game is just stupid in my eyes.
I mean, I've been playing video games all my life and never once felt the urge to grab a gun and go on a shooting rampage. I've felt rage against different people throughout my life to varying degrees but that's never prompted me to even consider violence.
The fact that a couple "experts" can say that video games are the cause is complete bull in my mind.
While I do agree that some games are too violent and not meant for younger people, once you are old enough most people understand that it's just a game.
Further, I think there is obviously more to this shooting than a video game. This person was obviously troubled. And most likely there were a bunch of things that led to this. Granted video games may have played a part, but a very small part.
Most likely he had family problems ongoing for some time. Combine that with the stress of school, and perhaps a breakup and that's your catalyst for this - not video games. Generally that's what you see in these cases - loners with psychological problems sometimes caused by upbringing or stress and something snaps.
And really would video games be the cause? because we've really only had first person shooter type games for a few years. However we've been exposed to similar type movies for 40 years. I'd say a shoot-em-up movie is far more likely the cause mostly because there's been more exposure to them than shooter games.
Now I'm not saying movies are the cause - I know they tried that with Columbine - that the Matrix was the cause of that, but really it's not the violent games or movies. It's society.
It's our exposure to blood and death - we've become desensitized to it. There are wars that many countries are involved in in the middle east and every day you hear of casualties and see blood and guts on TV. I'm sure this has more of an impact than a game.
So to the "experts" out there - broaden your focus. Look at all the factors at play from wars, to stressors to gun laws and then tell my how much of an impact games have?
