So I saw "Hitman" today at my local theater. What can I say? Excellent acting, great music, good fx, a great plot, no noticeable video game movie cliches......it had none of these things.
I know I am stupid to go see these films. Everything from Doom to Punisher has been a disappointment. But I really thought this might be cool. Agent 47 the ruthless killer with a barcode tatooted to his head. I enjoyed the game the couple of times I played it. But let me describe where they went wrong. First of all agent 47 is the most boring assassin ever and the actor who plays him (from go) is horrible. A large rock could of played 47 better. The music was booring and cliches and the fx were horible as well. I mean every time someone got shot at least 5 gallons of blood flew on the wall. Totally unrealistic. Don't these people watch "The First 48"?
I also enjoyed how heavily armored Russian "alpha" soldiers would die from a handgun. Guess they are using the same armor we give our troops in Iraq huh? Anyway it just got worse from there. They even showed some kids playing the "Hitman" video game in the "Hitman" movie......bloody brilliant huh? Sigh......it even did the whole video game camera shot in the movie. You know the 3rd person behind the head shot....seriously? Finally it does get 2 stars for her being the movie plus she can actually act. So I give it 2 out of 5 stars....Avoid people Avoid!

I can't believe what our society is coming to.
Now normally I'm not political. I try to keep fairly even on this blog. But when I heard that Paris Hilton has a petition on her MySpace to keep her out of jail I couldn't believe it.
She broke the law and now she wants special treatment? What's up with that? Personally I don't think she deserves special treatment. In fact I know she doesn't.
You know, if she did a little drunk driving that's one thing. After all she got nothing but a slap on the wrist for that. But to then violate her probation that's another, and for that she should go to jail.
In reality what should have happened in the first place for her is counceling.

I wasn't going to post so soon, but I saw a couple stories today that made my blood boil.
This story and this story report that 2 fairly well known and respected people (at least in some people's eyes) say video games are to blame for this and other shootings in recent history.
Now, I'm not going to go into name calling, but to blame the game is just stupid in my eyes.
I mean, I've been playing video games all my life and never once felt the urge to grab a gun and go on a shooting rampage. I've felt rage against different people throughout my life to varying degrees but that's never prompted me to even consider violence.

Sony Computer Entertainment America chief Jack Tretton is being quoted as saying: "April or May is when we feel like we're going to catch up to demand and have product fully in stock across North America and stay there."
Now some would argue that in fact Sony won't be producing more PS3s by May. The demand is in fact dropping.
I don't know if I agree with that. Sure demand may be stagnant for the PS3. After all both the Wii and the 360 are much less expensive. And of course the 360 has many more playable game titles than both the Wii and PS3.
But is that grounds for making such statements? I don't think so.

By now I'm sure you've all heard about the lady who died trying to win a Wii.
She drank too much water and wouldn't urinate, in the hopes of winning a Wii and for that she ended up in the morgue. How much do you think her 3 kids want a Wii now?
And of course you've all heard stories of people paying $500, $600 or more for a Wii (and surprisingly there are still PS3's available in stores).
It reminds me of last year this time when no one could get their hands on an Xbox 360. Yet what lessons have we learned?

Let me just start by saying I don't know, however I have a few questions I would like answered.
For one - how come it has taken until now to get a truly useful wireless controller? I mean, we've had wireless technology for a while, just as we've had motion sensing technology for a while. So why has it taken until the later quarter of 2006 before we've seen a wireless controller such as this?
Why aren't more games streamed? Why do we have to buy discs? I mean, most of the world is on some form of high speed connection, so why can't we just download our games now?

Well, I've resolved myself to the fact that I may not get a Wii this year before Christmas. While I have been checking out the stores on a regular basis, and even signed up for a few alert services so that when the store gets stock I know about it, but up here the demand just seems to outstrip supply.
I do have a plan though, one that should get me a Wii before Christmas, it's just a matter of when.

It used to be that if you wanted a new console you'd just go to the store and get one. I remember (barely - and this is going to date me for sure) when my best friend got his Atari. They had only just came out but his parents went to the local store and picked one up along with a few games.
Flash forward to the turn of the millenium and you find that buying a new console is akin to getting struck by lightning. In fact, I bet the odds of getting struck by lightning are less than the odds of actually walking into a store, any store, and being able to buy a new console. But why is that?
Well, I have my opinion...

No I haven't died, just been super busy - got a lot of project wrapping up right now.
But I have been collecting news, so I hope to make some monster posts soon. be sure to check back!

So I'm back now.
Just wanted to give you a head's up. I was away for a few days. I had a high school reunion to attend. It was a day drive to where I grew up and a day back. Driving through snow (yes you read right - snow) wasn't fun, but the reunion was great.
Anyways I just wanted to do a quick post to let you know that I will be returning to active duty now :)
